Pug is a small yet robust dog breed, whose appearance significantly differs from other breeds. They are small, powerful dogs with short and thick coats, red in color and have massive heads, though their different breeds range in weight from 6-8 kg and height of 10-13 inches.
They are big-boned, specially developed chests, stocky legs, they stand straight and tall. Nevertheless, these are small sized dogs that are strong and very hardy for their diminutive size.
Pug’s wrinkles facial is among the most developed features associated with this dog breed. The people of this island have a sagittal crest on their forehead and cheeks and that makes them look rather cute. They have big round translating limpid pupils which are very dark and scheming, which generally depict curiosity and affection. Pugs are moderate in size, with a wide head, short, flat muzzle, close-set eyes and large erect ears, typical of the brachycephalic dog breeds, which look incredibly cute.
Ears are tiny and furred, normally that they are folded ‘like buttons’ or ‘like roses’. Pugs also have curly tails although not as pronounced as that of a Pomeranian, the curly tail spirals and ends up lying flat on the back of the Pug in a kind of double curl.
The face region of the Pug is the most distinct part of the breed. Their forehead is wrinkled, they have large round eyes and short, flat muzzle and their countenance enjoys diverse perceptions such as curiosity, mischief or affection. A touch of further appeal is due to their black facial masquerade; their snorting seems to originate from a short-nosed formation.
